One of the many Grandpa Sanderson stories I loved to hear Mom tell was about the times the kids would ask if they could buy something special or do something out of the ordinary.
Grandpa would always ask,”What do you think this is, your birthday?”
Mom said she and her siblings couldn’t wait until it really was their birthday and they could say, “YES! It is my birthday!” I’m sure Grandpa enjoyed getting caught in his little game.
Today is my very special cousin, Valerie’s birthday. Her Murdo Girl moniker is, Lav. She is the best sport I know and a beautiful new Grammy.
“Hey Lavish! What do you think this is your birthday?”

I’m so glad you two have each other. I’m trying to get one of my two remaining second cousins to come down and visit me. Only one of my first cousins is still alive and he’s in his nineties. I’ve only seen him twice in my life.

I just stumbled upon this blog today as I was googling my grandparents, Dr. Joseph Murphy and Florence Murphy….I haven’t read much but it made me so happy seeing pictures of my grandmother thank you!! Also some other familiar faces I have kept in touch with as I got older…Elsa Peck in particular until her passing. I’ll have to scan back through your posts 🙂

Hey, Cuz, it’s great to hear that Grandpa Sanderson story. Never knew that funny one.
I am really milking the bday celebration. Went to Carmel today and got lunch and a walk down the beach. Got a free cupcake and iced tea yesterday and breakfast out this coming weekend from a friend. Got a new hat and purse from friends and a warm jacket from Caitlin. Good thing Grandpa can’t check the calendar.
